Guwahati, April 1 (). After winning the MasterChef India 2023 title, 26-year-old Nayanjyoti Saikia from Assam returned to his hometown Tinsukia on Saturday to a rousing welcome.
The MasterChef title winner was taken to his Gobindopur village in a grand procession from Dibrugarh’s Mohanbari airport. The people of his locality welcomed him with great enthusiasm and the traditional Bihu dance was performed.
Saikia said that I am speechless. So many people have supported me, nothing is enough to thank them. He also said that this trophy can inspire other boys to become chefs in their career.
Nayanjyoti Saikia was on Friday declared the winner of the cooking reality show MasterChef India 2023 after successfully completing multiple challenges in the grand finale. Apart from the total prize money of Rs 25 lakh, he also received the Golden Chef Coat.
The first runner-up of the competition was also Santa Sarmah of Assam. Mumbai’s Suvarna Bagul was the second runner-up in MasterChef India 2023. Both were awarded a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
The Grand Finale was attended by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor along with Celebrity Chefs Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar and Garima Arora. Kapoor tasked the three winners with creating a signature three-course meal that represented their identity.
Nayanjyoti chose to symbolize her hometown of Tinsukia with her plate.
