New Delhi, April 21 (). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has blamed the policies and legacy of previous governments for the rise of corruption in the country.
Addressing civil servants on the 16th Civil Services Day at Vigyan Bhawan on Friday, the Prime Minister gave examples of the results of the policies of previous governments. He said that there were more than four crore fake gas connections in the country. There were more than four crore fake ration cards. One crore imaginary women and children were being assisted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
He said that the Ministry of Minority Affairs was giving the benefit of scholarship to about 30 lakh fake youths. Under MNREGA, lakhs of such fake accounts were created in the country, money was transferred to lakhs of workers who did not exist.
Giving credit to the public servants for the change in the system, he said that now the system has changed. About three lakh crore rupees of the country have been saved from going into wrong hands. Today this money is being used for the welfare of the poor, making their lives easier.
He said, for a developed India, the countrymen do not want to wait any longer for the system to change. To fulfill these aspirations of the people of the country, all of us will have to work with all our might, fast decisions will have to be taken, those decisions will have to be implemented as fast as possible.
Highlighting the change in the attitude of the bureaucracy, the Prime Minister said that earlier the thinking was that the government would do everything, but now the thinking is that the government will work for everyone.
He said his government’s motto is nation first-citizen first and it is giving priority to the underprivileged.
Modi said, as a bureaucrat, as a government employee, now you have to keep in mind some questions in your every decision – the political party which has come to power, should use the taxpayer’s money for the benefit of its party. Has it been, or for the interest of the country? Where is it being used? Is that political party looting government money to create its own vote bank or is it working to make everyone’s life easier?
