Modi Highlights Koraput Coffee's Significance in 'Mann Ki Baat'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Koraput Coffee on Sunday, describing it as a delightful beverage and a source of pride for Odisha. During the 127th episode of his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi remarked, “You are all familiar with my connection to tea; today, however, I wanted to discuss coffee in ‘Mann Ki Baat’! You may remember our previous conversation about Araku coffee last year.” He noted that many from Odisha had shared their thoughts with him regarding Koraput coffee and had requested its inclusion in the program. “I’ve been informed that Koraput coffee has an exceptional taste, and its cultivation is also benefiting the community,” he stated.

The Prime Minister highlighted that individuals in Koraput are growing coffee out of passion, having left lucrative corporate jobs to pursue this endeavor successfully. Many women have also experienced significant changes in their lives due to coffee, gaining both respect and financial stability. “It is accurately said: Koraput Coffee is truly delectable! This is indeed a pride of Odisha,” Modi affirmed. He noted that Indian coffee is gaining global recognition and mentioned coffee cultivation in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, remarking on the remarkable diversity of Indian coffee. Additionally, he pointed out the progress in coffee cultivation in the North-East, which enhances the global identity of Indian coffee.

Coffee enthusiasts proclaim that India’s coffee is the finest, brewed in India and cherished worldwide, he concluded. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi commented that Koraput coffee exemplifies the state’s diverse climate and agricultural bounty. He expressed pride in the PM’s mention of Koraput Coffee’s taste and its positive impact on Odisha and India in his program. Majhi encouraged people to brew a cup of Odisha’s coffee and enjoy quality time with family, stating that India’s coffee is truly brewed in India and adored globally.
