Bhopal, 21 April (). The heat is increasing gradually, while the sound of water crisis is also being heard. Many schemes are going on to provide water to every house in Madhya Pradesh, but most of the water group schemes are lying incomplete.
Officially given information shows that out of the group water supply schemes operated in the state, the works of 26 group schemes have been completed in the state. 20 schemes are nearing completion and works on 69 schemes are at various stages.
Principal Secretary, Public Health Engineering, Sanjay Kumar Shukla has told the officials that the staff of the Public Health Engineering Department should visit the rural areas continuously. Based on the experience of the past years, the problem of drinking water in villages and settlements should be assessed. Action should be ensured by preparing village- and settlement-wise action plans to solve the problem of drinking water in the identified villages and localities with the local public representatives.
Principal Secretary Shukla said that the operation of handpumps in rural areas should be regularly reviewed. The executive engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department should ensure that the repair work of closed handpumps is completed within 24 hours. The Principal Secretary said that the maintenance work of handpumps in the CM Helpline and redressal of complaints related to tap water supply schemes should be regularly reviewed.
The Principal Secretary said that all the tap water supply schemes of the districts should remain operational. No tap-water scheme should remain closed due to electrical problem or disconnection of electrical connection. Drinking water supply should be started by direct pumping in the schemes in progress under Jal Jeevan Mission, in which water sources and pipeline works have been completed.
The Principal Secretary has given instructions that the water sources should be identified after testing the quality of water for the drinking water system in the villages where drinking water transport is the last option for drinking water system during summers. In case of non-availability of government water sources, action should be taken to acquire private water sources. Along with this, the water tankers available in the Gram Panchayats should be kept in good condition.
