Bhopal, May 25 (). Like a Bollywood movie, the Madhya Pradesh Police on Thursday chased tractor-trolleys laden with illegal mining in Morena, cordoned off the area and arrested the drivers.
A video of the chase has gone viral on social media.
It all started when the sand mafia tried to flee with tractor-trolleys laden with sand, but the alert police cordoned off the area and managed to nab them after a brief chase.
When the sand mafia saw the police, they increased their speed and tried to escape through the narrow lanes of the town. The cat and mouse race finally ended in Vismil Nagar, where a tractor-trolley overturned while trying to escape.
Police immediately cordoned off the area and seized two tractor-trolleys loaded with illegally mined sand.
Police said the arrested drivers have been taken into custody and a case has been registered against them.
Police had received information about illegal sand mining in the area following which a team was alerted to keep a close watch on any such activity.
A joint operation was launched to crack down on illegal sand mining in Morena, police said. About half a dozen people have been arrested so far.
