Chennai, May 27 (). Arikomban, a wild elephant shifted from Chinnakanal in Kerala’s Idukki district to Periyar Tiger Reserve near the Tamil Nadu border, has reached Cumbum town in Tamil Nadu.
Kerala Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran while talking to media persons said that the elephant has been shifted from Chinnakanal forest area after causing havoc in human settlements and the forest department is planning to pacify the elephant and convert it into Kumki elephant.
He said animal lovers had moved the High Court of Kerala, due to which the elephant was pacified and shifted to a forest area.
Speaking to , Tamil Nadu Chief Wildlife Warden Srinivasa Reddy said, “We will tranquilize the elephant and shift it to a deeper forest.” The forest department team is ready for this.
