New Delhi, April 18 (). The NIA has taken over the investigation into the March 19 attack on the Indian High Commission in London by pro-Khalistan protesters. The agency confirmed this to on Tuesday. This case was earlier registered in the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
Earlier, the Union Home Ministry had approved the transfer of the case to the NIA.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police had registered an FIR in connection with the protest by pro-Khalistan activists at the Indian High Commission in London on March 19.
The case has been registered after the Union Home Ministry asked the Delhi Police to take legal action.
Investigation into the matter has been initiated by registering an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
The British Deputy High Commissioner has also been summoned by the Center seeking an explanation on the complete absence of security during the protest.
The British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, described the incident as unacceptable.
