Imphal, May 1 (). Night curfew continued for the third consecutive day on Monday in Manipur’s Churachandpur district even as there was no fresh incident of violence in the hill district in the last 48 hours.
The police officer said that as a precautionary measure, the district administration has decided to continue the night curfew till further orders.

The district administration on Saturday imposed curfew in Churachandpur district from 5 pm to 5 am, which is still in force. However, normal day-time activities were witnessed from Sunday with the reopening of shops, business establishments and markets.
Unidentified miscreants set ablaze the government building on Friday, damaging properties and destroying documents. Following incidents of Thursday’s violence, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had canceled his Friday visit to Churachandpur district.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to address a public meeting at Sadbhavna Mandap in New Lamka Town, Churachandpur on Friday and inaugurate the open gym at PT Sports Complex. In view of the Chief Minister’s visit, the miscreants also set fire to the chairs and other material at the venue.
The police claimed that people from Myanmar who had entered the state illegally were also involved in the arson.
