Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) solidified its presence in the Mithila region as Nitish Mishra achieved a significant victory in the Jhanjharpur Assembly constituency during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Mishra garnered 107,958 votes, overcoming his nearest contender, Ram Narayan Yadav of the Communist Party of India (CPI), by a margin of 54,849 votes. The election featured a varied slate of candidates, including Keshavchandra Bhandari from the Jan Suraaj Party, who received 11,563 votes, Krishna Kumar Sahu (Independent) with 4,513 votes, Devkant Jha (AAP) with 2,347 votes, and Abdul Irfan (Independent) with 1,992 votes. The ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option gained 3,112 votes, while other independent and minor party candidates attracted minimal support.
Analysts credit Mishra’s substantial victory to his established reputation for development projects and effective community engagement in the area. His deep-rooted influence in Jhanjharpur left little opportunity for rivals, highlighting the BJP’s robust organizational strategy and the party’s increasing appeal in the constituency.
