Patna, March 29 (). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday tried to reach out to the Kushwaha community in the wake of appointment of Kushwaha leader Samrat Chowdhary as its Bihar unit chief after Upendra Kushwaha quit JD(U) and BJP.
Addressing a gathering of the Kushwaha community at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall here to celebrate the birth anniversary of Emperor Ashoka, he used the word ‘be careful for people coming from Delhi’ and claimed that he had done a lot for the Kushwaha community.
The Kushwaha Samaj claims to be the descendants of Emperor Ashoka.
Nitish Kumar said, I have done a lot for the memory of Emperor Ashoka and for the Kushwaha community in Bihar. You guys know it very well. I want to warn you that some people will come from Delhi and claim that they have done a lot to preserve the memory of Emperor Ashoka. I want to tell you that they have done nothing but they have claimed that they have done everything. So be careful with them.
The people of Kushwaha community shook hands and gave assurance to Nitish.
He said, I did a lot for the welfare of the Kushwaha community and the overall people of Bihar, but you would never see me boasting of my achievement. They (BJP) have not done anything, they have nothing to do with the freedom struggle. They are trying to erase the memory of Mahatma Gandhi. They are in power of the country but have done nothing for the welfare of the common people. They have only done word of mouth service. So, be careful with them.
Nitish Kumar-led JDU has its core vote bank of Kurmi (Lav) and Kushwaha (Kush) communities in Bihar. After Upendra Kushwaha left JDU, some Kushwaha vote bank reportedly shifted towards him and now making Samrat Chowdhary BJP state president in Bihar is aimed at wooing the Kushwaha community, which is the third largest community in Bihar after Muslims and Yadavs Is.
