Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that his government prioritizes improving the quality of education and school infrastructure. While inaugurating the State-level children’s festival ‘Suravi’, Majhi emphasized that nurturing children’s aspirations is a key focus for his administration. He noted, “Our government is committed to providing quality education to students from pre-primary to Class 12.
We have rolled out the PM-Shri Yojana, starting at Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya, and have successfully implemented the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 across all educational levels in the State.” To combat school dropout rates, the government has initiated the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha scheme, which offers a one-time financial support of Rs 5,000 to tribal students entering classes 9 and 11. Majhi mentioned that a record budget allocation of Rs 41,273 crore has been dedicated to the education sector for the current financial year, constituting 14.2 percent of the budget and 3.9 percent of the GSDP, a feat achieved by few other States.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond remarked that the sector’s advancement hinges on the development of all educational levels. The ‘Suravi’ festival at Capital High School will run until November 14, featuring more than 2,400 participating students showcasing their talents.
