New Delhi, April 26 (). A man has been arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for allegedly smuggling 1,010 grams of gold worth Rs 54,25,205. An official provided this information on Wednesday.
A senior Customs official said that the accused was picked up on suspicion on Wednesday after he reached Terminal No. 3.
The person was stopped and his belongings were searched, the officer said. During the search, 1,010 grams of gold worth Rs 54,25,205 was recovered from the person.
The accused could not produce any document for carrying such a huge quantity of gold. The recovered gold has been confiscated under section 110 of the Customs Act, the official said. The said passenger has been arrested.
