New Delhi, May 5 (). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Bastille Day parade in Paris this year after he has accepted French President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to be the chief guest at the annual event on July 14.
A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday said- On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in this year’s Bastille Day parade as the chief guest on 14 July 2023 in Paris. Has accepted the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron to take.
It added that to mark this important milestone, the Indian Armed Forces will participate in the parade along with their French counterparts. The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to usher in the next phase in the India-France Strategic Partnership by setting new and ambitious goals for strategic, cultural, scientific, educational, economic cooperation, including in a wide range of industries.
Ha in the statement- This historic visit will also provide common initiatives to respond to the major challenges of our time including climate change, biodiversity loss and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and an opportunity for India and France to reaffirm their commitment to multilateralism This also includes reference to India’s G20 chairmanship.
India and France have a common vision on peace and security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region in particular and uphold the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, which are also the basis of our cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Bastille Day is celebrated as the National Day of France.
In 1789, Parisians marched to the Bastille prison, seizing weapons from the armory and releasing their prisoners after a fight.
