Thiruvananthapuram, April 23 (). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Christian religious leaders in Kochi on Monday evening as part of his two-day visit to Kerala.
Kerala BJP sources told that the prime minister would meet eight heads of different sects of Christian groups.
According to sources, the meeting will be held around 7 pm.
The Kerala BJP is reaching out to the Christian community to break the party’s dry run in the state’s electoral politics.
The Prime Minister himself meeting the religious heads is seen as a major step for the state BJP in its efforts to reach out to the Christian community.
In Kochi, Modi will also interact with 1 lakh youth as part of the Yuvam program organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the BJP youth wing.
During the program, the youth will be able to ask questions to the Prime Minister on various issues.
The Prime Minister will also hold a 1.8 km roadshow from Venduruthy Bridge to Sacred Heart College in Thevara in Kochi on Monday.
Kerala Police has tightened security for the yatra with the deployment of 2,000 policemen.
