Power Mech Projects Limited, a prominent company in industrial engineering, construction, and services within the power and infrastructure sectors, has received the Balance of Plant Package on an EPC basis for the 1 x 800 MW Singareni TPS, Stage-II, from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. This contract is valued at over ₹2500 crore excluding GST. The contract’s scope encompasses the engineering, procurement, and construction of various systems, including coal and biomass handling, ash handling, utilities, an Induced Draft Cooling Tower (IDCT), a water and wastewater treatment plant, a fire protection system, as well as associated civil, structural, and electrical works. Mr.
Sajja Kishore Babu, Chairman and Managing Director, commented on the project award, stating that it will enhance the company’s substantial order book and strengthen its core competencies in engineering, procurement, and construction, aligning with its strategic growth objectives. He emphasized that this project supports India’s broader goal of increasing power generation capacity and ensuring long-term energy security through dependable base-load thermal power. As the nation progresses in its renewable energy transition, thermal power remains essential for providing continuous electricity and maintaining grid stability. The Indian government’s strategy encompasses the addition of high-efficiency supercritical and ultra-supercritical thermal units, which integrate cleaner combustion technologies and renewable co-firing options like biomass, balancing performance with environmental sustainability.
