Three Inter-State Burglars from Rajasthan Arrested in Davanagere

In a significant accomplishment, Vidyanagar police in Davanagere apprehended three inter-state burglars from Rajasthan who were systematically targeting locked homes across various states. The arrested individuals are Shyam Singh (28), Kavar Pal (24), and Pratap Singh (33). Authorities recovered valuables totaling ₹15,37,800 from their possession. The investigation commenced following a burglary on January 9, 2025, at the home of Ranganath in Vinayaka Badavane, VMG Layout, Vidyanagar. Ranganath, who was in Bengaluru, returned to find his residence had been burglarized. The thieves had broken the lock, gained entry, and stolen gold jewelry, silver items, and cash from his Godrej bureau. Acting on his report, Vidyanagar police initiated a case and investigation.

Collaborating with Saroli Police from Surat City, Gujarat, they successfully traced and arrested the three suspects. During the search, police seized 162.150 grams of gold valued at ₹12,97,200, 1,350 grams of silver worth ₹1,08,000, cash of ₹95,600, six mobile phones valued at ₹34,000, and two wristwatches worth ₹3,000. Preliminary investigations indicated the trio was linked to at least six burglary incidents across Harihar, Haliyal, Dharwad, Tumakuru, Tiptur, and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. The police reported that their method involved identifying locked homes, breaking in, and escaping with valuables before crossing state borders to avoid capture. The accused were presented in court and placed in judicial custody.

Davanagere SP Uma Prashanth commended the Vidyanagar police team for their successful resolution of the case and acknowledged their effective collaboration with Gujarat police, which facilitated the arrests. This successful operation not only resolved the Vinayaka Layout incident but is also anticipated to shed light on several unresolved burglaries in Karnataka and other regions. The arrests have provided reassurance to the residents of Vidyanagar and nearby areas, who had been alarmed by a series of thefts. Authorities mentioned that further investigations are ongoing to assess the full scope of the gang’s activities.
