Jaipur: On Monday, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde urged citizens to collaborate in strengthening democracy, emphasizing the necessity of accountability and transparency in governance at all levels. In his message for World Democracy Day, Bagde highlighted the supremacy of the Constitution, which reflects the best democratic values from around the globe. Speaking at a session of the Bharatiya Yuva Sansad at the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Institute, he stated, “The youth are the torchbearers of the nation and must be inspired to act with the spirit of ‘nation first’.” He remembered B R Ambedkar, who ensured that the Constitution incorporated the finest elements of global democracies.
Bagde asserted that India stands as the world’s largest democracy due to its foundation in equality, justice, and noble life values. He stressed that quality education is vital for empowering youth, enhancing their intellectual and physical capabilities, and fostering talent. He illustrated this with an analogy, saying, “One who can plan meals in a plate in such a way that no food is wasted can also contribute effectively towards the planning of society and the nation. The process begins with self-discipline at home.” Regarding the role of technology in governance, Bagde noted that artificial intelligence (AI) can support evidence-based decision-making, expedite processes, and enhance citizen services, but warned that its use should not compromise human dignity and life values.
