The latest pieces are showcased in New Delhi, under the title Playground, reflecting their lively colors and spirited stripes. This collection marks the brand’s return to exploring Mashru, a woven silk fabric known for its otherworldly sheen. The saris feature bold borders and pin-striped designs that define the essence of play—each piece is a result of careful exploration of proportion, color, and form. This collection revisits Mashru, a textile with a fascinating history. Mashru is a playful warp-faced satin weave characterized by its lustrous shine, with a smooth silk surface on one side and a cotton backing on the other.
The textile was created under Shar’ia law to enable Muslim men to navigate a strict sartorial framework that equated silk with luxury.
