RSS-backed organization to hold mega rally against corruption in Kolkata

Kolkata, 30 April (). The Citizen Empowerment Forum, which has reportedly been active with the support of the RSS and its affiliates, will take out a mega rally in Kolkata next week on the issue of corruption incidents in West Bengal.

This event will be held on May 5 on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. First there will be a rally, which will start in front of Swami Vivekananda’s ancestral house in Simla Street, North Kolkata.

The rally will culminate in front of the Kolkata Metro station at the Shyambazar Square, where a meeting will be held on the issue.

The organizers said that they have already applied to the city police for permission to hold the rally and gathering. “If the police refuse to give permission, we will approach the court to take it,” said an organiser.

However, the organizers have decided to make the event as non-political as possible and hence no state BJP leader will be invited to attend the event.

The organizers claimed that corruption will be the main focus of the rally to be held after the May 5 rally, another highlight point of the tension and political violence in West Bengal that started after the 2021 assembly elections and continues till date .

According to the organiser, Sachindra Nath Singh, who is also in-charge of the West Bengal unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the current situation in West Bengal calls for the unity of people from all walks of life and joint protest against the issues of corruption.

He said, our initiative does not have any political motive. There is complete social disorder going on in West Bengal now. We are opposing it by involving people from all walks of life.
