Kochi, April 27 (). It was a joyous moment for the families who returned from trouble-torn Sudan on Thursday to reach home safely, but life has come to a standstill for Cybella Albert and her daughter.
Cybela Albert’s husband, Albert Augustine, was killed in clashes between paramilitary forces and the Sudanese army in Khartoum.
She was on holiday in Khartoum with her daughter and husband when the shooting started.
While he was talking on his mobile phone, he fell victim to a bullet.
Augustine had joined a private company in Khartoum seven months ago as a security officer.
According to sources in the Ministry of External Affairs, his body is expected to be airlifted soon.
The rescued people said that if it was not for the efforts and timely help given by the Government of India, they would not have been able to return.
A family that reached Thiruvananthapuram said, “We have been there for 18 years and this is happening for the first time.” We also got help from the local community. We are very happy that the Government of India acted swiftly.
More Keralites are expected to arrive in the coming days.
