Samsung is set to unveil its Galaxy Z foldable smartphone later this year, featuring a distinctive G-shaped dual infolding display. This upcoming device is rumored to offer a 10-inch screen when fully opened. A few months back, TM Roh, Samsung’s smartphone and tablet chief, disclosed that the company is developing a tri-fold smartphone akin to Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Edition, with plans for a global release by the end of 2025. The Galaxy Z Trifold was first glimpsed at the K-Tech Show, held at the Air Dome of Gyeongju Expo Park in Gyeongbuk-do, where attendees were introduced to the enigmatic device at the Samsung Electronics booth.
According to South Korean news source Dailian, the smartphone was exhibited during a side event at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Early footage reveals that the Samsung Galaxy Z tri-fold features a large edge-to-edge display that folds inward twice, creating the G-shaped configuration. This design diverges from the outward-folding hinge seen in Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Edition. While official specifications are still pending, it is suggested that the tri-fold design could expand to a full 10-inch size when unfolded, offering users versatility similar to that of a compact tablet.
Additionally, leaked images indicate that the Galaxy Z Trifold may include a triple-camera setup on the left side of the rear, while the right side is expected to maintain a sleek design with a selfie camera positioned on the middle panel. This aligns with previous information from a One UI 8 beta build, which indicated that the device—potentially named the Galaxy G Fold in some markets—will feature inward-folding hinges, allowing the left panel to fold inward and the right panel to fold over it.
