Samsung India Launches Innovative Mobile CT Solutions for Healthcare

Samsung, India’s leading consumer electronics brand, in partnership with NeuroLogica, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., has unveiled its next-generation mobile CT product range in India. As a global frontrunner in advanced medical imaging technologies, Samsung has crafted these systems to enhance diagnostic and interventional radiology in India, integrating mobility, AI-powered efficiency, and a patient-first design to enable healthcare providers to deliver quality care anytime and anywhere. The newly launched portfolio features CereTom® Elite, OmniTom® Elite, OmniTom® Elite PCD, and BodyTom® 32/64, each tailored to cater to the varied clinical requirements of hospitals and specialty centers. By facilitating adoption across hospitals of all sizes, including those in underserved regions, Samsung aims to democratize access to advanced imaging throughout India.

“Samsung is making significant strides toward enhancing accessibility, efficiency, and patient-centricity in advanced medical imaging with the launch of these mobile CT solutions in India. These innovations are not only technological advancements but also empower healthcare providers to bridge the care gap between metropolitan and tier-2/3 cities. We believe this portfolio will reinforce India’s healthcare infrastructure, support clinical excellence across various specialties, and be vital in improving patient outcomes on a larger scale,” remarked Atantra Das Gupta, Head of HME Business, Samsung India. Samsung’s mobile CT solutions signify a significant advancement in imaging delivery.

By bringing scanners directly to patients—be it in a neuro ICU, operating room, emergency department, oncology unit, or pediatric intensive care—hospitals can minimize risks, enhance clinical safety, and facilitate swift decision-making. Importantly, these systems allow facilities to expand capacity without the need for expensive infrastructural changes, further enhancing the accessibility of advanced imaging within India’s healthcare ecosystem. The mobile CT imaging revolution includes features such as: · CereTom® Elite: An 8-slice CT scanner with a 32cm patient opening and 25cm FOV, offering efficient imaging with a 2-hour battery life. · OmniTom® Elite: Provides 0.125mm x 80 slice reconstruction in Ultra High Resolution mode, with a 40cm patient opening and 30cm FOV, designed for versatility with a 1.5-hour battery capacity.

This system has notably transformed neurosurgical procedures, allowing complex operations like deep brain stimulation to be completed in as little as 2 hours instead of the traditional 8-10 hours. Additionally, the OmniTom® Elite facilitates immediate post-operative scans in the operating room, enabling surgeons to quickly identify complications such as hemorrhage and take prompt corrective actions. This capability has been shown to enhance patient safety and significantly decrease the chances of revision surgery, leading to more efficient surgical outcomes. · OmniTom® Elite PCD: Features photon counting detector technology for improved image quality and advanced artifact reduction.

· BodyTom® 32/64: A 32/64-slice CT scanner with an 85cm patient opening and 60cm FOV, designed for comprehensive full-body imaging, equipped with a lithium polymer battery that offers up to 12 hours of standby capacity. In addition to efficiency, Samsung’s mobile CT platforms are designed with the future of healthcare in mind, incorporating AI-assisted imaging and seamless integration with hospital PACS and EMR systems. This ensures quicker and more accurate diagnoses while supporting digital health transformation initiatives nationwide. The portfolio is designed for a wide range of clinical applications, improving precision and efficiency across diverse specialties.

In neurosurgery, it provides intraoperative CT for surgical planning and confirmation; in emergency medicine, it delivers rapid imaging for trauma and stroke diagnostics; interventional radiology teams can utilize CT-guided biopsies, ablations, and drainage procedures; in oncology, the systems assist with imaging for brachytherapy and tumor resection; and for pediatric imaging, they offer safe and effective solutions tailored for children and neonates.
