‘Santhana Prapthirasthu’ review: Balancing humor with a serious theme

Rating: 3/5 Santhana Prapthirasthu, a low-budget Telugu film featuring Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary, has been released with an unusual theme at its center. Directed by Sanjeev Reddy, the film aims to tackle the sensitive issue of male infertility through a narrative infused with humor. With robust character interactions and a focus on entertainment, the film is now in theaters. Story Chaitanya (Vikranth), a reserved software engineer in Hyderabad, falls for Kalyani (Chandini Chowdary) after an unexpected meeting. Despite her father’s (Muralidhar Goud) objections, they get married. Complications arise when Chaitanya learns about his low sperm count. The film chronicles his challenges—both internal and external—as he faces shame, familial pressures, and his father-in-law’s persistent attempts to undermine the marriage.

The story intertwines emotional elements with situational comedy, resulting in a touching yet amusing portrayal of the couple’s experiences. Performances Vikranth demonstrates significant growth from his first film, convincingly portraying a man caught in insecurity and family turmoil. Chandini Chowdary excels as the emotional core of the film, delivering her performance with poise and sincerity. Muralidhar Goud stands out, effortlessly captivating the audience with his comedic timing and exaggerated disdain for his son-in-law. Abhinav Gomatam, Vennela Kishore, and Tharun Bhascker contribute positively in their supporting roles. Technicalities Director Sanjeev Reddy merits recognition for addressing a challenging topic without falling into crude humor, while maintaining a feel-good atmosphere. Sunil Kashyap’s music and background score are suitable, aligning with the film’s tone.

Mahi Reddy Pandugula’s cinematography is clear, and the overall production quality is commendable. The editing feels sluggish in the first half but gains momentum afterward. Analysis Santhana Prapthirasthu effectively tackles a sensitive subject within a family-friendly comedic framework. Although the humor is well-executed and the performances enhance the story, the emotional resonance is delayed, which limits the film’s overall impact. Despite a slow start, the film ultimately serves as a satisfactory weekend viewing option, characterized by charm, humor, and poignant moments.
