Mumbai, June 5 (). The ruling Shiv Sena and the BJP in Maharashtra have signed a package deal to contest all future elections in the state together. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde told here on Monday that it would include elections from local bodies to assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Shiv Sena President Shinde along with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made the announcement today after a late night meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.
“It was also decided in the meeting that Shiv Sena-BJP will jointly contest all upcoming elections in the state (including elections to Lok Sabha, Vidhansabha and local bodies),” he tweeted.
Shinde said the alliance for the development of the state is going from strength to strength for the past 11 months and will win with a majority and continue the race for development to make Maharashtra the number one state in the country in all sectors.
The two also discussed other issues with Shah, including agriculture, cooperation, women empowerment and ongoing work for farmers. He also informed Shah about how various stalled development projects were cleared here.
Speaking about his visit to New Delhi with Fadnavis, Shinde said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always guided us on various projects in the state. We had this meeting with Shah to guide him on issues related to the cooperative sector.
The visit of the two comes barely three weeks before the first anniversary of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. The present government came to power on June 30, 2022, after toppling the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
