Pilibhit, June 5 (). Ejaz Nabi, 55, was set on fire by his 27-year-old son Azad Nabi in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district. It is being told that the man had tried to stop the son from illegally connecting the power line after the electricity department disconnected the power line from the house a day earlier for non-payment of bills.
According to the police, the accused Azad poured diesel on Ejaz and set it on fire.
Passers-by rescued the victim and informed the police.
After this, the police shifted Ejaz to the district hospital, where the doctors said that he had suffered 30 per cent burns.
The victim, who worked as a junk dealer, alleged that his son was supported by his mother and wife.
He said that all his family members wanted to kill him, except for his younger son, 25-year-old Fariyad, as they never accepted his inappropriate behaviour.
Her elder son first assaulted her in the house and ransacked the house in a fit of rage.
Ejaz said that later, when the victim left the house to call his younger son for help, he was set on fire midway.
Station Officer of Pilibhit Kotwali Police Station Naresh Tyagi said that the police is waiting for the written complaint in the matter to register the FIR.
Doctors at the hospital said the victim was out of danger but had sustained severe burn injuries on both his hands and the left side of his body.
