Chennai, April 25 (). In a gruesome incident, a 55-year-old village administrative officer was hacked to death in his office on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the afternoon at Maruppadandu in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.
According to the police, Lourde was working in his office when two unidentified persons barged in and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons.
Lourde had suffered multiple injuries. He was brought to the government hospital at Maruppandu, but was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police sources told that Lourde was a strict officer and did not succumb to the bribery culture with mining groups. Many local miners were against him and the possibility of his assassination by some of these groups cannot be ruled out.
Police said special teams have been formed to nab the absconding criminals.
