Tarn Taran (PB): The voter turnout for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election in Punjab reached 60.95 per cent on Tuesday. In the previous 2022 assembly elections, the voter turnout for this constituency was 65.81 per cent. The polling process, which was conducted peacefully, involved 15 candidates competing for the seat in this border constituency. Voting commenced at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm, with stringent security measures implemented as reported by officials. Vote counting is set to occur on November 14. Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C announced that the voter turnout recorded by 6 PM was 60.95 per cent.
He noted that the final figure would be updated by Wednesday after all polling parties return to collection centres for complete data entry. He expressed gratitude to the Tarn Taran electorate for participating in the bye-election. According to Election Commission data, the voting percentage was 11 per cent during the initial two hours (7 am to 9 am), rising to 23.35 per cent by 11 am. The rate further increased to 36.62 per cent by 1 pm, 48.84 per cent by 3 pm, and reached 59.21 per cent by 5 pm.
