Kolkata, April 18 (). Trinamool Congress MLA Jiban Krishna Saha, arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday in connection with the multi-crore teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal, seems to have no sympathies.
All the three members of Saha’s family claimed that they had no grudge against the CBI action. Media persons had claimed that Jiban’s father Biswanath Saha heaved a sigh of relief at his arrest.
Vishwanath Saha told media persons, his son often used to torture him mentally and physically. He is a worthless and dangerous person. He used his influence to pressure me through my neighbors to sell the house at Sainthia in Birbhum. He arranged for someone to get me a government contract in exchange for a bribe. I am not surprised at his arrest. I have no sympathy for him. He is paying for what he has done to me.
Echoing Vishwanath Guha’s sentiments, his daughter Chumki Mandal Saha said she was ashamed to be recognized as Jiban Krishna Saha’s sister. Jeevan didn’t even care about our father, he said. No relation with us. I never had good respect for him, but I could never have imagined that he would be involved in such a scam.
Mother Gayatri Saha’s tone was somewhat soft in comparison to husband and daughter. She said, I cannot say that I do not feel bad about this action. But at the same time I am ashamed. We lead a simple life, whose lifestyle was of a very high standard. Again, I cannot say that he was involved in such a scam.
The special CBI court on Monday sent Jiban Krishna Saha to judicial custody for four days. Saha will be produced in the same court on April 21. The court also allowed the MLA’s wife to meet him in CBI custody during the interim period.
