As the Bihar Assembly elections approach, Tejashwi Yadav, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and chief ministerial candidate for the Mahagathbandhan, emphasizes that his primary focus is on employment. In an interview with The Indian Express, Yadav stated that Bihar is in dire need of “jobs, jobs, and more jobs,” and he reiterated his commitment to ensuring at least one government job for each family. In response to criticisms regarding the financial feasibility of his employment initiatives, he maintained that his proposals are both realistic and sustainable. Yadav also commented on the friendly competitions within the Opposition alliance, noting that while local factors are important, the overarching goal is to defeat the current government.
He highlighted that the strength of the alliance lies in concentrating on the true adversary rather than internal disputes. When asked about political strategist Prashant Kishor, Yadav dismissed him as a “media creation” and argued that Kishor does not have authentic grassroots support. He concluded by stating that his campaign is based on the genuine needs and aspirations of the people, rather than on superficial narratives.
