Tejashwi Yadav Announces Intent to Become Bihar Chief Minister on November 18

Patna: In a bold statement that has energized the political landscape in Bihar following the elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav declared on Tuesday that he plans to “take oath as Chief Minister on November 18.” Speaking to the media late Tuesday night, Tejashwi asserted that a coalition government is on the horizon and highlighted a “significant public backlash” against the current NDA administration. “We have received feedback from the public,” he noted. “Those poised to assume power have indicated that this feedback surpasses that of 1995. The high voter turnout reflects discontent with the government. Change is imminent in Bihar.” His confident statements were made as the counting day, scheduled for November 14, approaches.

The unprecedented voter turnout across the state has already fueled speculation regarding anti-incumbency feelings directed at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s administration. Earlier, Tejashwi referenced a report from Dainik Bhaskar, questioning the presence of security personnel during the polling. He highlighted that 68% of the 208 police observers assigned were from BJP-ruled states, suggesting an electoral bias. Referring to Bhaskar’s November 9 article titled “Bihar Now 2025 — BJP State Force in Bihar Elections: 4,560 soldiers from 14 states, including Gujarat and UP, deployed at polling booths, CISF strong rooms,” Yadav implied that the ruling coalition is “afraid of the people’s mandate.”
