New Delhi, May 29 (). A group of inmates at Delhi’s Tihar Jail attacked an undertrial with a hand-made weapon, injuring him on Monday afternoon. An officer gave this information.
According to a senior jail official, at around 12.40 p.m. In Ward No. 2 of Central Jail No. 1, some inmates attacked Rahul alias Pawan with a sharp knife, a hand-made awl and a tile, injuring the inmate.
The officer said that one of the assailants, identified as Alok alias Vishal, had also hurt himself after the incident.
Jail staff and quick response team intervened and the inmates involved in the incident were immediately separated, the official said.
After first aid at the jail dispensary, both the injured prisoners were taken to DDU Hospital for further treatment.
“We have informed Hari Nagar police station to register an FIR and take further legal action in the matter,” the officer said.
