Thiruvananthapuram, May 20 (). Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday alleged that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan first removed a top IAS officer who prepared a report on the alleged AI camera scam and then reinstated him in his old position after giving him a clean chit.
Top IAS officer Mohd Hanish, who was Industries Secretary, was removed from the post last week and given the charge of revenue.
However, he was soon transferred to the Health Department.
He was given back the post of Industries Secretary on Saturday, a day after giving a clean chit to the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government.
We were told that the government official’s report would come in a week, but it took three weeks, Chennithala said. Pinarayi Vijayan, it is a shameful act by you, because when an officer hesitated to give a favorable report, he was thrown out. And when they reported as you wanted, they were given back the position they were in. But after reading this report, it becomes clear that it has been prepared in this manner.
These AI cameras were procured for the Motor Vehicles Department to check over-speeding vehicles.
Though the work was awarded to Keltron, a state-owned company, the opposition alleges that all manipulation took place when Keltron subcontracted the work to companies that had no previous experience in the sector. In this, a relative of Chief Minister Vijayan has also got a sub-contract.
Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan said that Vijayan is silent on this because he knows that there is a disturbance.
