Lucknow, May 15 (). Cyber thugs have cheated a person of Rs 13 lakh in the name of getting a job. That person was asked to rate films in exchange for payment.
A case was registered at the cyber police station on Sunday.
The complainant, Kuldeep Singh of Madianv, received a message on his WhatsApp asking the fraudster to register himself on Telegram user ID as an employee of a company providing online jobs for movie ratings.
The thugs then sent the film’s photos and names and asked Singh to rate the films, for which he promised to pay.
Since it was an easy task, I agreed to do it, Singh said in his FIR. Later, when asked, I shared my bank details and IFSC code. They sent me a commission of Rs 890 for the rating.
In this way they won my trust and asked for details of my 6 bank accounts and withdrew Rs 13.4 lakh from them, he said.
Singh immediately informed the cyber police.
SHO Mohd Muslim Khan said that an FIR was registered against unknown persons under sections 419 and 420 and investigation is underway.
Another senior official said that cyber scammers are trying new tactics to cheat the innocent and people should be alert.
Meanwhile, in another case, a woman from Gomti Nagar was duped of over Rs 1 lakh in the name of online work of following influencers on Instagram, while another woman from Hazratganj was duped of over Rs 6 lakh in a job-related fraud. Cheated of Rs.
Rashmi Singh from Gomti Nagar said she received an online job offer from an unknown person, who asked her to follow an influencer on Instagram in exchange for money.
