Bhubaneswar, April 21 (). A team of Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police had recently gone to Odisha to trace Gudd Muslim, a close aide of Atiq Ahmed. A police officer gave this information on Friday.
A five-member STF team of UP Police had visited Bargarh district on April 18 and questioned a person in connection with gangster Guddu Muslim. However, they have not arrested any person from Odisha.
Earlier there was news in the media that the last location of Guddu Muslim was found in Puri, Odisha. However, the Puri police had said that they had no information about the gangster.
Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal told the media, a team of Uttar Pradesh STF had come to Odisha two days ago. The team did some investigation in Bargarh district for a day and then left for Odisha. They have sought our help and we have assisted as per protocol.
He said that the UP Police had not told anything about the investigation and details of the case to the Odisha Police.
The DGP said, as per the normal protocol, when we visit another state for investigation, we seek help from the concerned state police and when the police from the other state comes, they seek our help. There is nothing new in this.
Northern Range IG Deepak Kumar told that the UP Police had informed a police station in Bargarh and after some verification in the police station area had left for UP.
We have given them necessary help, Kumar said. He has examined a person from Bargarh district. However, they have not arrested any person.
It is noteworthy that Guddu Muslim is among the 10 accused named in the high-profile Umesh Pal murder case in UP. Six of them have been killed and Guddu Muslim is among the four others who are currently absconding. The Uttar Pradesh Police has launched a campaign to nab them.
