DTR field director B. Prabhakar said, this is the first time in Uttar Pradesh that such a unique arrangement has been made in a tiger reserve during the seven-month jungle tourism season that is held every year from November 15 to June 15. The forest staff deployed for the management of these jungle safaris will also feel relieved from the new provision.

Also, forest personnel will be able to contribute to the management of eco-tourism in a better and planned manner, according to the feedback given by the tourists during this free time.

Akash Deep Badhawan, DFO, Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary said, “The day-long suspension of jungle safaris every week will affect the revenue inflow, our main objective is to provide a comfortable environment to the wildlife and forest staff.” Ensure an emotional interaction of jungle tourists with wild animals which can instill in them an innate sense of conservation and protection of biodiversity.

Disturbance caused by vehicles during safaris and movement of tourists in core forest areas is not good for the wildlife and this will give them respite, said a senior forest official.
