Puratchi Thalapathy Vishal has announced his directorial debut with his milestone 35th film, Makutam (Magutam in Tamil), produced by RB Choudhary under the esteemed Super Good Films label. This project also signifies the 99th production for the renowned studio. Vishal unveiled the film’s impressive second-look poster and shared that he assumed the director’s role during production. In an official statement, Vishal clarified that his decision to direct was a deliberate choice rooted in responsibility, rather than compulsion. He stated, “Circumstances led me to take charge of the creative process. Cinema is a commitment to the audience and the producers who place their trust in us.
Directing Makutam ensures that the film stands tall, protects the producer’s efforts, and delivers the best cinematic experience.” The poster features Vishal in a striking old-man portrayal, complete with grey hair, a beard, and glasses. Sitting regally on a chair with a cigar, his intense expression conveys both power and intrigue, quickly generating buzz on social media. Vishal has written the screenplay, with the story attributed to Ravi Arasu. The film stars Dushara Vijayan as the female lead, alongside Anjali in a key role. The technical team includes cinematographer Richard M. Nathan, composer G.V. Prakash Kumar, editor NB Srikanth, and art director Durairaj.
With its captivating concept and Vishal’s new creative vision, Makutam is set to be a compelling and stylish addition to his filmography.
