Patna, May 4 (). Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday said that he is committed to the caste-based census in Bihar and it will be conducted in future despite an interim stay by the Patna High Court.
“Our fight for caste-based survey in the state will continue,” he said. The people of Bihar are in favor of caste based survey. It is in the interest of the common people.
Tejashwi said, the decision of caste-based survey was taken unanimously by all the political parties of the state. It is not for any particular caste, it is for all.
The Bihar government was conducting the caste-based survey at its own expense, he said, as the Center refused to contribute financially to it. The BJP did not want a caste-based survey to be conducted in the state. They fear that once the real data comes out, everyone will know how many people are living below the poverty line and how many of them are landless. Who is in good financial condition and who is not. The survey is in the interest of people of all castes and communities.
He said, as the interim order has come, the state government will analyze it and take a decision accordingly.
He said, after the court order, the BJP is celebrating the verdict and spreading the lie that they are in favor of caste-based survey. If it was so, then why didn’t they get organized by any of the BJP ruled states or the Centre.
