A report released on Thursday reveals that over 80 percent of women believe that an increase in female leaders could enhance workplace culture in the technology industry. The Women in Tech Report, published by cybersecurity and data protection firm Acronis, highlights perceptions of gender disparities in career advancement and leadership roles. It indicates notable differences in the way men and women view career opportunities, workplace obstacles, and advancement barriers within the tech sector. Specifically, 82 percent of women support the notion that bolstering female leadership would lead to a more positive workplace environment, whereas only 74 percent of men concur.

This 2025 survey underscores a persistent perception gap regarding career opportunities in technology, with men generally considering the industry to be more equitable. In contrast, women report facing substantial hurdles related to bias, work-life balance, and access to leadership roles. Only 60 percent of women feel that men and women have equal access to career growth opportunities, compared to 75 percent of men. Additionally, over 60 percent of women assert that challenges related to work-life balance significantly hinder their career progression, while only 49 percent of men share this view.
