Yamaha Launches FZ-Rave and XSR155 Motorcycles in India

Patna: Yamaha Motorcycle India has launched two new motorcycles in the country — the Yamaha FZ-Rave and the Yamaha XSR155. The FZ-Rave is priced at ₹1.17 lakh (ex-showroom), while the XSR155 costs ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). These launches reflect Yamaha’s ongoing strategy to enhance its footprint in the 150cc motorcycle market, catering to both young commuters and retro-style aficionados. The Yamaha FZ-Rave is equipped with a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 12.2 bhp of power and 13.3Nm of torque, connected to a 5-speed gearbox. Weighing only 136kg, the motorcycle features a 13-litre fuel tank, a seat height of 790mm, and a ground clearance of 165mm, offering a blend of comfort and control.

In terms of aesthetics, the Rave showcases a new LED headlamp, red alloy wheels, and is available in Black and Matte Green. Additional features include a compact LCD display, all-LED lighting, and single-channel ABS. “The FZ-Rave aims to enhance accessibility to Yamaha ownership,” the company stated. Its pricing positions it against competitors like the Honda Unicorn (₹1.11 lakh) and Bajaj Pulsar 150 (₹1.12 lakh). The Yamaha XSR155, the highlight of the launch, is a neo-retro roadster that shares its engine and chassis with the R15 and MT-15. It features a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 18.1 bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of torque at 7,500rpm, combined with a 6-speed gearbox.

Built on Yamaha’s DeltaBox frame, the XSR155 has a USD front fork, a monoshock rear, and weighs 137kg, making it slightly lighter than the MT-15. Its 10-litre teardrop tank, round LED headlamp, and flat single-piece seat contribute to its vintage appeal while ensuring modern comfort. Safety features include dual-channel ABS and traction control, though it opts for an LCD console instead of a TFT screen, akin to Yamaha’s FZ-X Hybrid and Fascino models. With its combination of nostalgic design and advanced performance, the XSR155 is expected to attract riders who appreciate both style and functionality. “The XSR155 embodies Yamaha’s enduring design philosophy — merging retro aesthetics with contemporary performance,” a Yamaha spokesperson remarked at the unveiling.

Both models are now available at Yamaha dealerships across India, with the company hinting at special introductory offers for early buyers. The FZ-Rave, with its competitive pricing, targets daily commuters, while the XSR155 appeals to enthusiasts looking for premium design and performance without a high price.
