Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need to strengthen and modernize Uttar Pradesh’s fire department to address the challenges posed by rapid population growth, industrialization, and urbanization. During a review of the department on Thursday, he stated that it should transition into a comprehensive system for disaster management, rescue, and emergency response, as outlined in a statement. The chief minister instructed the establishment of specialized units in various regions to manage chemical, biological, and radiological emergencies, in addition to incidents in super-high-rise buildings. He also urged the department to be equipped with advanced technology and well-trained personnel.
Adityanath further mandated the creation of new positions, including a district-level accounting cadre to enhance administrative efficiency and financial transparency, along with additional roles at the state fire training college to improve training and research standards.
