Chennai, April 18 (). 521 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Tamil Nadu in the last 24 hours on Tuesday and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 8.6 per cent. The State Public Health Department has issued an alert to all district health officers.
Except Kallakurichi, Tiruvarur and Tirupattur, all other districts reported new Covid cases. The total number of active cases in Tamil Nadu has gone up to 3,330.
140 new cases have been reported in Chennai, 45 in Coimbatore, 44 in Kanyakumari and 31 in Tiruchi districts of Tamil Nadu. Between 10 and 25 new cases were reported from ten districts and 21 other districts reported cases in single digits.
One passenger each from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Qatar and Oman has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ten districts in the state recorded a TPR higher than the state average, with Coimbatore showing a TPR of 12 per cent. Kanyakumari, Tiruvallur, Salem, Ranipet and Chengalpattu had a TPR of 11 per cent while Chennai and Kanchipuram had a TPR of 10 per cent.
The state public health department said 150 people have been admitted to hospitals, three of them in intensive care units. 70 patients are on oxygen therapy and 77 are in general wards.
