Kolkata, March 31 (). West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose swung into action on Friday after receiving a call from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the clashes in Howrah district on Thursday over a Ram Navami procession.
Sources in the Raj Bhavan said that after receiving a call from the Home Minister, the Governor summoned Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi and Home Secretary BP Gopalika to the Governor’s House on Friday evening.
Sources said that during the meeting with two top bureaucrats of the state, Bose sought details of the prevailing situation in Howrah and the action taken by the police to restore normalcy in the disturbed areas.
Sources also said that there is a possibility that the Governor may also visit the trouble-torn areas. However, there is no confirmation about the timing of his tour.
As per the latest information available, a large contingent of police has already been deployed in the disturbed areas of Howrah district. The team is continuously doing flag march in the area.
Repeated announcements are also being made for people to avoid any kind of gathering in the area. Apart from this, legal action has been warned in case of any kind of violation.
