Lucknow, April 2 (). At least 78 students of the Babu Banarsi Das (BBD) University in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow fell ill allegedly after consuming food in the hostel. University officials said 42 students were taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences and 36 to a private hospital in Chinhat.

A team from the state health department also visited the students and hostel inside the BBD campus.

SM Kamil Rizvi, Dean (Student Welfare) and Chief Proctor, BBD Educational Group, said, “There was a program on the campus, which went on till late night. On returning to the hostel, the students have dinner. Hours later, we received reports of some of them having stomach problems. He was taken to the hospital.
