Bangalore, April 5 (). Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep on Wednesday announced that he will support Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in the upcoming assembly elections, but will not join the BJP.
Talking to reporters in Bangalore, Sudeep said that he had a good relationship with Bommai since childhood.
I call him uncle. There is no question of my stand or politics in my decision. I have been watching CM Bommai since I was a kid. He stood by me during my crisis in the film industry. I stand here with him.
He said, there is no godfather and only a few people were standing with me. Now, I am giving my support to them. But, I am not getting into politics and I want to clear that to my fans.
Sudeep said, I am going to campaign for CM Bommai and I will also campaign for those candidates for whom he will say. It is not possible to visit all the constituencies. Leaders of other parties have also supported me. If they ask for my help, I will preach for them too.
Actor Prakash Raj has objected to Sudeep’s support to the BJP. Responding to Prakash Raj’s tweet, Sudeep said that he is a fine artist. I did Ranna with him. I am looking forward to working with him in another film. I am not entering politics and it is the wish of my fans. It has been a struggle of 27 years. It (supporting Bommai) is a decision taken on humanitarian grounds.
However, Bommai said that if Sudeep is supporting him, then he is also supporting the party (BJP).
Bommai said, he has not joined any political party, he has come forward to support me. I have talked to him two-three times. I told him that there is a need for his publicity, however he did not join the party. Therefore, he will preach.
