Chennai, April 5 (). Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the state government will never allow coal mining/lignite mining from the delta districts of Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister was replying to a Special Calling Motion moved by the MLAs.

Stalin said like other members of the House, he was shocked by the announcement by the central government to start the auction process of three coal blocks in the delta districts of Tamil Nadu.

He said that he is not only the chief minister but also a resident of Tiruvarur district of the state which comes under the delta districts of the state and added that coal or lignite mining will never be allowed in the delta districts of the state.

The chief minister also said that he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after he came to know about the central government’s auction process.

He said that former Union Minister and senior DMK leader T.R. Balu had met Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi and apprised him of the current situation.

The Chief Minister said that Prahlad Joshi told T.R. Told Balu that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s protest would be given due importance and would be taken into account.
