Patna, April 17 (). After the spurious liquor incident in Bihar’s East Champaran, the district police has suspended SHOs of five police stations. An official gave this information on Monday. In this regard, a letter has been issued from the District SP office saying that the SHOs of Turkaulia, Sugaili, Paharpur, Harsiddhi and Raghunathpur police stations have been suspended with immediate effect.
East Champaran district SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra said, “Officers of five police stations were suspected for their unruly attitude, so we have taken action against them and suspended them with immediate effect.” We have also arrested 20 accused so far.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Thursday’s spurious liquor tragedy has risen to 31. By Saturday, 22 people had died and by Monday morning, nine more had succumbed.
According to a police official, 20 people have been admitted to private hospitals in the district. The condition of five of them is serious. Apart from this, eight people have lost their eyesight.
