Guwahati, April 22 (). National President of Indian Youth Congress Srinivas B.V. A team of Assam Police left for Karnataka on Saturday to arrest him. Angkita Dutta, the suspended Youth Congress chief of the Assam unit, had lodged a complaint of harassment against him. An officer gave this information.
Srinivas B.V. A case under sections 509, 294, 341, 352, 354, 354A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with section 67 of the Information Technology Act has been registered against at Dispur police station.
According to sources, a four-member team of Assam Police has been sent to Karnataka to nab Srinivas.
Assam DGP G.P. Singh has confirmed the developments. However, he refused to give further details in this regard.
Earlier, on the sidelines of an event in the national capital, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the way the Congress was handling the situation was disappointing. He said that the law will take its own course on this issue.
He said, the kind of attitude the Assam Congress has adopted in this matter is sad. They should have constituted an inquiry committee and sorted things out among themselves.
