In his petition, Khagra has claimed that his driver, Avijit Mandal, has no previous criminal record. While arresting Mandal, the police detained two more of his employees, who were later released. He also had no previous criminal record.

Referring to the sealing of his office by the police, Khagada claimed in the petition that this was done to unnecessarily harass him because of his business relations with Raju Jha.

The petition has been accepted and is likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Raju Jha, who was waiting in front of a shop at Shaktigarh in East Burdwan district, was killed.

He was killed just 48 hours before he was to face questioning in connection with the multi-crore coal smuggling scam in West Bengal at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) headquarters in New Delhi.

He was also questioned in the same case by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is conducting a parallel probe into the coal-smuggling scam.
