Kanpur, April 26 (). A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for threatening to kill Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from a number of his girlfriend’s father. The police gave this information on Tuesday night.
The youth, identified as Amin, had threatened to kill Yogi Adityanath by calling the police’s emergency number 112.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankita Sharma said that he was arrested from Begum Purva area of Kanpur and the mobile phone used to make the call was seized.
They said Amin hatched the plot out of frustration with his girlfriend’s father, who was not happy with their relationship.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Babu Purva) Santosh Kumar Singh said the police contacted the woman’s e-rickshaw driver’s father, who claimed that his mobile phone was stolen around 10 days ago.
Amin’s neighbors also said during interrogation that he conspired to trap the man as he wanted to marry his daughter.
Amin confessed to stealing the mobile phone of his girlfriend’s father about 10 days ago and threatening him using his SIM card.
Police said three criminal cases have been registered against Amin, who will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
