Kolkata, May 3 (). Amid growing political row over the alleged cash-for-job scam in the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools in West Bengal, a petition has been filed in the Calcutta High Court alleging irregularities in the selection of college principals in the state. Has gone.
In her petition, Assistant Professor Tandrima Chowdhary has alleged that the confidants of top officials of the College Service Commission (CSC) have been unethically placed among the toppers depriving deserving candidates in the process of selection of college principals.
Chaudhary has made these toppers parties in the case. The matter is expected to come up for hearing this week.
In the petition, the assistant professor alleged that just as the recruitments were done by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) in violation of all norms, the same had happened in the selection of principals by the CCS.
The petitioner has also alleged that even a contractual college teacher is there in the list of toppers which, according to him, is totally illegal as selection for the post of college principal is based on contractual basis as per UGC rules. No person appointed can be made Principal.
The CCS officials, however, declined any comment to the media till they know the details of the petition filed.
It is learned that apart from academic performance index, there are other criteria to consider any college teacher for the post of principals.
The first is that the person applying for the post of College Principal must have completed 10 years as a college teacher.
Academic merit and published papers in reported research publications are among other conditions to be eligible for the post of college teachers.
